"My language for/on My Computer" the slogan of the SMC community makes me excited. It is one of the first community who is totally devoted in making free software for the localization and its related issues which is helping users to make the computer to speak in your own language. I have not ever worked for SMC, but i have worked for Indlinux and Fuel Project.

I am familiar with git and mercurial. I use it during committing my translation files to gnome and Mozilla.

My aim is to identify and implement an automated method to test the rendering.

  • What excites you about this project? Why did you choose it?

I am a language translator and have entered in to the localization codebase to develop tools for localization. For a translator, it is necessary that what he uses the font that must be correct. To do this , there must be a software available that will tell them correctly the used id correct. So, i have taken this project and very excited to work on this.

  • What qualifications do you have to implement your idea?

For implementing this project, knowledge of opentype specification and how rendering engine works and a good command of glyph and unicode encoding is necessary. I have the basic knowledge of opentype specification and fontforge tool to get the glyph info of a font currently. I am adding other necessary skills soon.

  • What have other people done on this idea? Has it been implemented before?

UTRRS (Unicode Text Rendering Reference System) is implemented to do the same. This application acts as a baseline to solve this problem.
